Slot Check, Inc., is an independently owned and operated company with no ownership interest from any casino or its owners.

Slot Check was founded in 2020 by professor and entrepreneur, Grant Stousland. Before creating Slot Check and making slot transparency his mission, Mr. Stousland made history in the casino gaming industry with Gaming Informatics (GI). GI brought to market IRIS® – a first-in-class Integrated Regulatory Information System for casinos and casino regulators in the United States.  Today, IRIS® by Kobetron®, continues to work behind the scenes to help ensure that the slot machines you play comply with tribal, state, and federal regulations. In doing so, it helps to ensure fair play for the consumer.

It is no surprise that it took an innovator to embark on the audacious goal of creating a technology company that shares real-time slot performance data with players. Slot Check and its affiliate casino provide players with the Slot Performance Insights they have wanted since the invention of the slot machine in 1894.

The short answer is no.  Slot machines are random and use random number generators to produce outcomes.  Slot Machines are games of chance.  Slot Check provides historical data on the recent past for players to make their own inferences.  Slot Check does not predict future outcomes.

The answer is simple. It is good for business. Being transparent and sharing information with players is appreciated by players. It builds trust and loyalty.

Slot Check receives its data, by agreement, directly from the casino. Slot Check could not provide players with slot transparency if it was not for our affiliate casinos who provide us with a one-way feed of their slot data from their slot accounting system. To all our innovative casino affiliates, who have agreed to democratize their slot data, we applaud you for listening to your players and truly putting them first; and making a bold statement in the casino industry. A statement that is changing the way players think about and play slot machines, and the way casinos are thinking about customer loyalty, continuity, and how to make slot play more fun!

The data accessible to players in the Slot Check app is real-time.* It comes from the casino’s slot accounting system. This is an independently tested system that is certified to comply with gaming regulations in their respective jurisdictions – tribal or state. 100% of the slot machines in any Slot Check affiliate casino are regulated by both tribal and the state gaming regulatory authorities, where applicable. As such, players on Slot Check are assured that the machines they play at any Slot Check affiliated casinos meet federal, state, and tribal regulations.

From time to time, data errors and run-away slot meters occur. These rare events do not affect the integrity of the games or playing experience. Such events are rare and only affect the data that is viewed in Slot Check. If you see anything in the app that does not look right, please Contact Us. We want to hear from you. Be assured that we are always working to improve data integrity and performance.

*Real-time is a relative term. Slot Check data is refreshed in the app every 2-5 minutes. This timeframe may vary as it all depends on how fast we can get it to you, since it has to travel from casino to cloud and then onto your phone, tablet, or PC. The strength of data connection and other factors may affect the speed at which fresh data points appear in the app. We are always improving.

Payout to Player (POP)

POP tells the player what percentage of the money played (Play, bet, paid-in, or wagered) will be returned to the player over the game’s lifetime. Each slot has a set POP as determined by the manufacturer, casino, and regulatory authority. The minimum POP that a slot machine can be set at is enforced by the regulatory agency in each jurisdiction.  Check the web site of your state, tribe, or provincial gaming agency.  Typically, the minimum POP is 75% (e.g., Nevada) to 80% (e.g., Wisconsin) in most jurisdictions.  As you can see from the Slot Check app, POP for most games are set significantly more generous than the jurisdictional minimum.  Video poker slots typically have the highest POP at around 96% to 98%.

Remember, POP is what the game can be expected to pay out over its lifetime as defined by lifetime Win divided by lifetime Play (LT Win/LT Play = POP).  To see how any given game in Slot Check has been paying out recently, you must look at RTP (Return to Player).

Players think about POP.  Casinos think about Hold (100% – POP = Hold).

Each game has a unique personality.  Some games play better, or are more fun to play, when set at a lower POP.  For example, a POP set at 93% does not mean that it is a better or a more fun game than one set at 90%.  It also does not mean that in the short term (1, 2, or 3 visits) you will have a greater chance of a positive RTP playing the higher POP game.  Considering other factors such as your budget, what type, style of games you like to play, and looking at PRO insights such as how RTP has been trending may improve your play and give you more entertainment value.  The good news is that Slot Check is the first only app in the world that gives you all the information you need to make the most informed decisions in gaming!

Mathematically, RTP is the same calculation as POP.  The difference is that RTP tells the player how the slot has actually paid out recently (e.g., 1, 4, 8, or 24 hours, or last 7 or 30 days). The calculation is Money Won divided by Money Bet ($ Won/$ Bet) for any given timeframe selected = RTP.  RTP tells the player what percentage of the money Paid-in (played, bet, or wagered) was returned to the player in the selected timeframe.

When looking at POP and RTP together, the player can see if the slot has been over or under performing for any selected timeframe relative to POP.  Comparing RTP to breakeven will also tell a similar story.

This insight tells the total number of times a slot machine has been spun.

Slots are generally considered to have high or low volatility.  Volatility helps the player better understand the personality of the game.

High Volatility slots are those that typically do not win often but when they do they pay big. They are sometimes referred to as “high and fast” as your money can go quickly but if you get lucky the Money Won can be big.

Low Volatility slots are those that typically win often but the wins are modest vs the big wins of high volatility slots. They are sometimes referred to as “low and slow” as they typically allow the player’s budget to last longer giving them more time on device.
